By Road:
From the south, east or north of Scotland.
Make your way to Fort William by the A82 - just north of Fort
William take the A830 signposted Mallaig. The Lochailort Inn
is on the left in the tiny village of Lochailort, 25 miles
(40km) west along the A830.
From Skye or Mallaig: Take the A830 south towards
Fort William for 18 miles (29km) and you'll see the Inn on
the right just beyond the junction with the A861 road.
From Moidart (Mull, Strontian or Ardnamurchan):
From Salen, take the A861 north for 21 miles (34km) (going
via Acharacle) and turn right at the A830 junction - the Inn
is immediately on the right.
By Train:
There are about four trains a day in each direction from
Fort William or Mallaig. Note that when you board the train,
you must ask the driver or the guard to stop at Lochailort,
or the train won't!
Scotrail Sleeper services from London (every night except
Saturday) terminate at Fort William and connect with a Mallaig-bound
train. Scotrail services from Glasgow stop at Fort William
then usually go on to Mallaig.
